Refugee & Asylum Seeker Scheme
Our specialist Welcome To Bradford Coordinator worked with refugees and asylum seekers who needed support to get out and about in their community.
The scheme was for those feeling isolated, needing help in accessing services or just finding out what was available in the area.
We supported in accessing local courses or groups, finding appointment locations, and even working out which bus routes you need to take.
The Welcome To Bradford scheme was FREE and ran city-wide, in conjunction with Keyhouse, who helped Asylum Seekers who are awarded Refugee status to find accommodation.

The Welcome To Bradford scheme also included WEAVe (We Enable Active Volunteers) whereby refugees and asylum seekers were supported by our WTB Coordinator to volunteer as peer mentor/befrienders to other people who are in a similar situation.

Volunteering was a great way for refugees and asylum seekers to build confidence, meet people, practice language skills and feel more involved in their local community. Volunteers were offered ongoing support, training, regular get together’s and guidance.
